In this work, light becomes both subject and memory—layered, refracted, and suspended. The landscape was inspired by my 2023 visit to Israel and the Dead Sea.  It was a space that inspired awe and this work is my interpretation of both a physical place, but also an internal horizon, where perception and recollection merge. A soft exhale across a vast expanse, this painting captures the fleeting, iridescent light where sky meets water. Layers of oil paint, applied with a palette knife, sculpt a textured surface that shimmers with an internal luminescence. A pearlescent sky, bruised with subtle lavender and rose, is punctuated by fleeting clouds of white and pale gold. Below, a vibrant band of cerulean and jade marks the distant horizon, its form dissolving into shimmering reflections that dance across the canvas. Brushstrokes across the lower half of the painting evoke the gentle currents of the sea, a play of mint, teal, and occasional flashes of deep indigo. The materiality of the paint itself becomes water and light, creating an atmospheric depth that pulls the eye across the canvas, inviting sustained contemplation of its tranquil beauty. This work offers a powerful sense of serenity, a moment suspended in perpetual dawn or dusk.
