Oil on Canvas, 24x36 inches
Into the Woods explores the moment of crossing—from the known into the intimate density of memory, intuition, and place. The painting evokes a forest, my childhood playground, both as a literal landscape, and as an emotional terrain: layered, luminous, and even slightly ominous. Vertical gestures suggest passageways for hiding places, and portals to imaginary worlds, while fractured color and reflected light blur distinctions between ground, water, and sky, inviting the viewer to seek rather than arrive. Violets, greens, and flashes of gold create a rhythm of concealment and revelation, echoing the experience of moving through woods where clarity comes in fragments. Here, the forest becomes a metaphor for both inner and external exploration—a space where one must slow down, trust sensation, and accept that growth is revealed not all at once, but step by step.
